Well, right now, it kinda feels like the world mostly sucks, don’tcha think?
And I’ve had enough of that. Enough of elections, and scandals, and violent clashes, and bitterness, and new case numbers, and rising death tolls.
Let’s do something else just for a while, just for a change.
If you’re here, odds are pretty good that you’re one of the people that I think of as a positive ray of sunshine. Someone who cheers me up, or someone I work together with to cheer each other up, or at least, someone who appreciates a good laugh, and helping others have a good laugh with you. You’re one of those I want to spend more time with, one of the ones I’ve ALWAYS wanted to spend more time with, but we just don’t live near each other anymore. Maybe we never did. Maybe we’ve never actually even met in person. But you’re one of the good ones. You’re “of the race that knows Joseph,” even if you didn’t know that’s what we’re called. [Anne’s House of Dreams. Fabulous book. Fabulous series, in fact, that begins with Anne of Green Gables. Check it out.]
So, let’s spend some positive time together. I’ll post here FUN news stories I find (see “Alpaca News,” stage right, for the kind of thing I mean. That’s the story that started an entire GENRE of news updates in this house!), reviews of UPLIFTING books I’ve read lately—anything from children’s books to works by His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, whom I tend to read quite often—and any joyful updates from our house to yours. Please feel free to comment your own joyful news, anything you’ve seen lately that would bring a smile to the faces of all our readers, or just a greeting to let me know you’re here, and enjoy these posts. Please DO NOT bring up politics, COVID-19, or anything else that could lead to vitriol on our screens. We have PLENTY of places to encounter that stuff. Hence, I will be moderating comments, so don’t be alarmed if your comment doesn’t appear right away—it will be there very soon, I promise, so long as it follows these simple guidelines.
BUT, on a day when your heart may be burdened or broken by life, you’ll be more welcome here than ever. Positivity doesn’t mean having to lie to yourself or others about a crappy day; it means being able to see past the pain of this moment and know that it won’t be a permanent condition, no matter how awful something seems. So, if somebody comments here on one of their rough days, that’s where the kindness will need to come into play from the rest of us. After all, everybody takes their turn with that day.
Kindly be positive, but if you can’t, always be positively kind. <3
